EV's are simply a VERY reliable TRANSPORT, VERY cheap to run at 1-5c per Km and virtually no upkeep of brakes and exhaust and oil changes and leaks etc. SIMPLY GET IN AND DRIVE without noise and pollution. On long trips my Tesla tells me exactly where to stop for short while (which you should do!) Then carry on for another 300-400km I am just amazed that these gentlemen have NO idea that the real leader in this space is Tesla ! I'm using my 'Advanced Autosteering' most of the time, .. I really wish we could move on from the EV debate and talk more about infrastructure for green transport. Roadmap for blue and green hydrogen should really be the next milestone to aim for. Then the rest will fall into place.

Your slowly losing my support, good EV'S are 10k+ and unaffordable, heatpumps running cost is the same as gas combi boiler but considerably more for purchase, home solar and storage can generate 110% of the electric consumption of the house it is fitted on. Please do a honest, fact based, potential benefits and cost that 10 million homes with 5kw solar and 10kwh battery would give. I believe it could generate 15-20% of the UK grid usage.

IMHO the root cause of this hatred of EVs comes from Putin controlled Russian hackers. It is not just an attack on EVs but also an attack on society. I believe that the attack by Hamas on Israel was directed by Putin via Iran to take attention away from his war in Ukraine. The attacks on EVs are to support the oil income of Putin and his oligarchs. The hateful attacks on the internet where all threads quickly turn into being accused of some political warfare. EV’s are great , but they are not for everyone, not telling people the full truth is the same as lying . Queuing for chargers is not fun , waiting for 20 mins while you car charges is not for everybody , I don’t mind it , I’m never in that much of a hurry . But the reality is BEV’s are not suitable for everyone.

EVs have serious issues, which may get ironed out after enough time and effort--from cost to battery technology to support infrastructure. That has nothing to do with politics. They are (objective) facts. It's a shame that charlatans drag the subject into the political morass.

The critical point in stopping using petrol is the economics of petrol stations. I know they are supposed to be on a small margin and they will start closing at some point. It then becomes a situation where, how far are people willing to travel to get petrol?

West essex uk, all local public chargers are 85 to 93p per kwh and you have to pay car park charges whilst charging. Until there is sufficient competition or regulations regarding public charging the average motorist who does not have off street parking will be priced out and stick to ice. We need focus on car companies producing lower cost normal sized cars for the masses instead of nonsense £100k massive off roaders. We need one method of paying for public charging instead of the complete mess we have now. We need grants for charger installs at home and to be compulsory on all new builds. This platform should be used to lobby in that direction.

Someone recently pointed me to a very important fact: the largest car market globally is now China! And with 43% BEV market share in the first quarter 2024 the ICE market is shrinking very rapidly. The other thing is that quite something countries are discovering now, that they are able to buy renewable electricity generators relatively cheap and it is a one-off payment compared to buying other fuels continuously, they start encouraging the use of BEVs. So all these data points make me optimistic that "resistance is futile"!😉 But of course still remains to tackle all the issues still existing, with legal, the starting prices and the lack of smaller more efficient and reasonably priced EVs...
