You can’t just criticise ice SUVs, the only saving grace about electric SUVs is the power train. But SUVs being by the go to design just shows that the car industry just doesn’t care about the environment at all, merely fulfilling quaotas given by governments. They’re pumping out execessively sized products that all require more materials than something smaller. Materials that are being burned through at an insane rate, selling to people on finance deals that they can barely afford - that then feel compelled to buy into ‘upgrade cycles’, for cars that don’t fit on peoples driveways - let alone on the streets they live on. I genuinely hate it and them and nothing is done to try and disincentivise them (or car use in general)

The difference is that BESS is overtaking pumped hydro in terms of power, not energy capacity. kW, not kWh. Those are two very different roles. Also, Esbjerg still has their waste incinerator. There is still trash that needs to be disposed of somehow.

I'm leaning towards a BEV next as the hybrids are just not giving the benefits promised and I've driven several BEV's over the last few weeks that are fantastic, very capable and fun drives but they don't seem to have a business model for the dealers so when Quinten is saying it costs nothing to service (meaning the car obviously didn't go to the dealer) then the dealers void any warranty. MG want £400 to service an MG4 x-power and if they don't see it in 12 month the warranty is void, this was straight from the A5 Cannock dealers mouth so shelling out £40k (Which you would have to for an ICE too) feels a risk to not then take it to them in case there is a major issue, so saying they don't need servicing feels a stretch of the truth the other way. I know, you deserve plenty of credit considering what the oil company trash talk says and I'm nit picking but as I'm trying to go BEV, some of what you say I'm not seeing from my perspective.

The irrational hate against Toyota must end at some point. The fact is that in the past decades Toyota has saved the world of tons of carbon dioxide with their efficiency in manufacturing, efficient engines, popularization of hybrid tech etc. They just made a prediction a while ago that demand for BEVs will slow down. They were right and past few months they had record earnings. They have rerouted some of these funds towards BEV research and they will be ready when the demand rises. Work towards charging infrastructure availability, reliability and ease of use. This will bring people to BEVs, not Toyota hate.

After more than 3 years of driving a Zoe, I've found that I drive it more efficiently now than when it was new. I was really pleased to attain to 5.3 miles per kWh in Summer 2021. But in Summer 2023 I saw 5.8 miles per kWh, and that figure is being seen again this year. That improvement in driving style more than offsets any degradation in battery range for our car.

Whilst I 100% applaud the governor of Vermont's efforts to make the polluters pay, it may be more cost effective [and quicker] to remove any taxpayer funded subsidies baked into the taxation system. The amount of money that will have to be spent on legal fees by Vermonters will only delay meaningful climate change prevention and mitigation measures in Vermont by many years. As Robert so rightly pointed out, the fossil fuels industries will wield their mighty legal club with gusto until the bitter end.

Hi, I watched your video when you put it up and I was enthusiastic. In fact, I am in the process of getting a Heat Pump from Octopus (just waiting for a re-survey) and I have asked if I can have the Cosy 6 rather their current Daikin offering. However (& it's a big however), MCS has now tested the Cosy 6 and it didn't do very well. At 55° flow temperature, the SCOP is less than 3, which, as I'm sure you know, means that it would be more expensive to run compared to a dirty gas boiler. Even at a low flow temperature of 35°, the SCOP is still less than 4. It's very disappointing!

This is ridiculous. There are at least two other eScooters available from Amazon now that have a similar spec, full suspension, indicators, 28mph, 25/30 miles range, etc. The downsides with this one are (1) Pneumatic tyres - these things tend to puncture. (2) Price £3,500 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really???????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( I have had an 800w eScooter with all the same features, range, speed, soft ride with all round suspension, climbs hills, etc and it was £550. So even if this one you're promoting is sturdier (?) a price of £3,500 is a total rip off because they've been through the DVSA. I could buy a decent motorbike, motor scooter or car for less than that and the 2nd hand value of this will be pennies, it will be unsellable. Insanity.

Toyota sells cars at tiny margins to make profit from selling parts to stealerships. Oops, dealerships. Dealerships make most of their profit from maintenance. Electric cars need VERY little maintenance. Toyota's real customers are Dealerships. Dealerships won't make as much money from electric cars. Dealerships, Toyota's real customers, don't want to sell electric cars. Toyota's business model has to change. Or they may go out of business.

Hydrogen is odourless, colourless and explosive. OH! And the flames are invisible. Can you imagine being a first responder to an auto accident? You will not rush in to help the folks in the accident until it has been hosed down by the fire department. In the meantime the person in the vehicle dies for the lack of first aid. I am fine with hydrogen for stationary applications.
